What working with a patent attorney means

There is a mistaken belief that getting patents, while useful and necessary, is a time consuming and difficult task for inventors and clients. Nothing can be further from the truth! The process is painless, and full of pleasant surprises! This talk will address how clients interact with their patent attorneys, and what is required from the client to make the patenting process easy, headache-free and effective.

5 things you need to know to protect your Intellectual Property (IP), while not spending much money. IP in the time of crisis

Maxim A. Voltchenko, Esq., Maxim A. Voltchenko, Esq.,

Duane Morris LLP
attorney
1. Intellectual Property: what patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets protect.
2. Protecting your product name (brand). Domain name registration may not be enough. But do you really need a trademark registration? Is it enough simply to “Google” your brand (trademark) to check its availability?
3. Website: content and source code. Copyright Law Basics: what is protected by copyright and what is not. Case study: Analysis of a real-life case when one real estate company copied the website of another real estate company (competitor) that has proprietary search capabilities and other features.
4. Work for hire agreements: the trap for the unwary and other Copyright formalities: notice, registration (optional in the U.S. but highly recommended).
5. Infringement (unauthorized copying of the website content). Fair Use issues: legalized plagiarism?

NVIDIA CUDA

Alexander Kharlamov Alexander Kharlamov

NVIDIA
High-performance GPU Computing Specialist

How to get profit from cloud computing: a manual for providers and developers

Ilya Baimetov Ilya Baimetov

Parallels
Director of Program management, Automation/APS
Current state of IT industry is rapid transition from on-premise infrastructures and their high-cost maintenance to pay-as-you-go services and cloud computing. Two main success factors for the service providers are here: high efficiency of the IT infrastructure and wide variety of services for customers.

Infrastructure efficiency is high when it has low TCO, high availability of services, can grow fast, can auto-scale and so on - everything that have today big service providers such as 1&1, GoDaddy, Google and MSFT.

Variety of services may be provided by cloud ecosystem, but there are two problems: ISVs and applications have no affordable way of reaching their potential customers, and service providers have not much products to offer, just raw resources.

Parallels provides technology and business model that allows any ISV to use any service provider as a sales/marketing channel, and allows any service provider to sell applications from any ISV as a service. Open APS standard for application packaging and its ecosystem, including non-profit organization and marketplace, provide direct way to cloud computing.

Promoting Technology Product Through Social Media: Shades, Mistakes, Case Studies

Anton Popov Anton Popov

Interactive Marketing Agency "Redkaya Marka" (http://remarkable.ru)
Director
Social media can either win fame for your products or bury them on users’ hard disks. Social media are people, earlier also known as the target audience. Social media are communications. When communicating it is natural to listen to partners and select topics interesting for them. The same is true for the new media: one should 1. track discussions, 2. make up “social objects” interesting to discuss, 3. make it easy to share information about your software or service, 4. gather a tribe attractive enough to join, 5. create multiple entrances/interfaces into the community… and some more principles which we’ll discuss at the conference.

Natalia Grikhina Natalia Grikhina

A method to measure the effectiveness of marketing, advertising, and PR campaigns in theory and practice.

The estimation of company’s marketing activity has always been considered obscure and not a subject to thoroughly analyze. The index showing the effectiveness of marketing, PR and advertising was the volume of sales. This is the most relevant criterion, but is it the only one?

- How to estimate the effectiveness of daily marketing activities, and why would you need to do that?
- Which activities return investments, and which only waste your budget, time and efforts?
- How to calculate bonuses for marketing employees: based on the tasks done or the effect?
