High-quality localization can significantly boost sales of a product on the target market. The use of modern technologies (such as Translation Memory or automated content management systems) allows companies to achieve even higher ROI. However, even advanced software companies do not always use all available technological capabilities in the process of localization. As a result, potential areas of savings become cost centers instead.
The two most pressing problems are, first, the use of heterogeneous, non-integrated content development systems that do not allow real-time use of shared resources (TM databases, glossaries, etc.). Second is working with no-tech localization vendors who have no automated order processing system (this means a large amount of manual work on export/import content for the customer’s specialists during localization). All this leads to high costs, emergency work in the pre-release periods and a high risk of missed deadlines and/or quality risks.
Against this background, implementation of an integrated information management environment that unites all content sources and is able to automatically transmit any content to the localization vendor can provide a significant competitive advantage. This will allow a faster and cheaper response to market needs by producing new localized versions or add-ons to an already localized product, a faster response to various marketing events, provision of higher quality support to users, and much more.
